Woven or knitted from an equal blend of yak wool and sheep wool, this scarf offers enveloping warmth with a breathable, naturally textured feel. The balanced fibre blend makes it a dependable layer for cold days, while its understated appearance pairs easily with everyday outerwear.

Material Origin

Our yak wool begins in the highlands of Uyanga, a soum in Övörkhangai Province, central Mongolia.

Uyanga lies on the northern edge of the Khangai mountain region, where mountains, forest, steppe and high-altitude pasture meet. The soum ranges from around 1,700 to over 3,300 metres above sea level and has long been shaped by livestock herding and life closely connected to the land.

This is where the yak in our products are raised. Adapted to Mongolia's cold mountain environments, yaks are an important part of pastoral life in the region. Their dense winter coat protects them from the harsh conditions, while the finer underfibre that develops beneath it is collected by herders in spring.

Uyanga is not simply a location we source from. It is part of the identity of the material itself. Yak-wool research in Mongolia has specifically included Uyanga as an important area for developing local yak-wool processing and production.

From the pastures of Uyanga, the fibre begins its journey through the hands of herders and processors before becoming the material used in our products. By identifying where our fibre comes from, we want to make that journey more visible from the landscape where the yak are raised to the finished piece you wear.

For us, knowing the origin of a material is the first step toward taking responsibility for what happens to it along the way.

Material, care and certificate

Yak & Sheep Wool Scarf — 50/50 Blend

Woven or knitted from an equal blend of yak wool and sheep wool, this scarf offers enveloping warmth with a breathable, naturally textured feel. The balanced fibre blend makes it a dependable layer for cold days, while its understated appearance pairs easily with everyday outerwear.

Material Composition:
  • 50% yak wool 50% sheep wool

Material Character:

  • The 50/50 blend of yak and sheep wool combines the softness and warmth of yak fibre with the natural resilience and structure of sheep wool. The result is a warm, comfortable material with a soft feel against the skin and a slightly fuller, more textured character than pure yak fibre.

Care Instructions:
  • Our scarf is made from a 50/50 blend of yak wool and sheep wool. To preserve its softness, shape, and natural warmth, handle it gently.

Wash only when necessary. Hand wash in cold or lukewarm water with a mild wool detergent. Avoid rubbing, twisting, or wringing. Gently press out excess water and lay flat on a clean towel to dry. Do not tumble dry or use high heat.

When not in use, fold the scarf and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture.

Certificate:
  • Because Mongolian fibre traditionally comes from small-scale herding, there is currently no widely established certification system covering the full journey from herder to finished product.

We are actively working towards obtaining appropriate certifications. Our work with Digital Product Passports (DPP) will also help us document and trace our materials, giving us a stronger foundation for future certification and greater transparency.
